Stansted gives Polly a roaring welcome

11.07.2007 - Stansted gives Polly a roaring welcome

A press event has been held at Stansted Airport to welcome Polly Vacher MBE during her Wings Around Britain challenge.

The world record breaking pilot touched down at Stansted yesterday as part of her mission to visit all 206 UK airfields between 21 May and 31 July 2007. She was wearing her Oris Big Crown Day Date, an ideal timepiece for intense flights.

The intrepid pilot is hoping to raise money for the Flying Scholarships for the Disabled charity. So far she has collected over four hundred thousand pounds, a sum she will add to through her book, Wings around the World.

On arriving at Stansted, Polly received a rousing welcome that included a spectacular fly-past by the Red Arrows and a water-arch salute by the Airport Fire Service.
