16.07.2008 - The Meistertaucher and the Olympic Champion!
Oris recently shared a stage with former Olympic swimming champion Jing Yi Le to celebrate the launch of the new collection of Divers watches at an event in Beijing.
Representatives from more than 60 major newspapers, magazines, and television stations as well as some of the top Oris dealers in China gathered at one of Beijing’s finest restaurants to see the new Divers collection unveiled with a little help from JingYi Le.
Ms Le was a gold medallist at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and is one of China’s best known sportspeople. She has been a friend of Oris since 2006 when she received her first Oris Divers watch. Although she has retired from competitive swimming she now runs a successful diving club in China. What better person to unveil the new collection, with the new Oris Regulateur Der Meistertaucher as the centrepiece!
At the event all the guests had the opportunity to try on the new watches, before being treated to an imaginative fashion show. The various new watches from the Oris Divers collection were paired with sporty, casual and formal outfits to show that they are just as at home on dry land as they are in the water!
Roland Ackermann, Region Manager for Oris for China, also attended the event and commented: “The event was fantastic and it was also great that Jing Yi Le, one of China’s greatest sporting heroes, was able to join us. Having spent so much of her life in the water she is one of the best people to talk about the new collection! The Meistertaucher was the highlight of the evening and I’m sure that this event will be talked about in Beijing for a long time to come.”
