23.07.2008 - Oris helps to bring F1 to the streets of Moscow!
Oris was proud to sponsor the very first Moscow City Racing event which took place in Russia’s capital city recently. Following a long association with motor sport Oris was one of the main sponsors for the first demonstration of Formula One on Russian soil.
An exciting programme of events was organised for the day with teams from Russia racing against each other on a 4.6km track which ran through the streets of Moscow. Thousands of Muscovites lined the streets to see the teams whizz past the Kremlin and along the banks of the Moscow River.
But the star attraction of the day was Oris ambassador Nico Rosberg in the AT&T Williams FW29 from the 2007 F1 season. He was there, along with Mikhail Alyoshin of Red Bull Racing, to give the waiting crowds a show they will never forget. He drove several laps of the track at high speed, starting next to Red Square and finishing at the Bolshoi Theatre, before finishing with a few tricks.
Before the event, Nico was presented with the Oris TT3 Formula Gold Limited Edition to remind him of his spectacular day in Russia’s first city. The rose gold watch was specially designed to celebrate 30 years of Williams F1 and is strictly limited to just 300 pieces.
Roland Ackermann, Region Manager for Oris in Russia, commented: This is a landmark for Formula One and also for Oris. We are honoured to be involved in the first F1 demonstration in Russia. We wanted to present Nico with the TT3 Formula Gold Limited Edition because it captures the spirit of Formula One – just as Nico and the AT&T Williams team have captured the imaginations of so many Muscovites today.
