30.07.2008 - Super G Star is a friend of Oris!
It’s not every day that a winter sports legend becomes one of your friends – but that’s exactly what happened to Oris recently! Austrian skiing legend and Olympic silver medallist Hans Knauss is the latest star to wear Oris.
Hans is a household name in his native Austria and is widely respected by winter sports experts and enthusiasts alike. He started out as a pro in 1988, winning various Giant Slalom, Super G and Downhill titles. The undoubted highlights of his career were the silver medal he won in the Super G at the winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan in 1998 and his victory in one of the world’s hardest downhill races in Kitzbuehel in 1999.
Having hung up his skis in 2004 Hans is now the expert pundit and commentator for skiing events on Austria’s main ORF television channel.
He may prefer his water frozen, but that didn’t stop Hans from choosing the Oris Divers Titan Date - waterproof to a massive 1000m – at a recent meeting with Albert Gilli, Oris’ Sales Director for Austria.
Mr. Gilli commented: “It’s fantastic that a skiing legend like Hans Knauss has chosen to wear Oris. He’s a hero in Austria and a great role model for young sportsmen and women. We are sure that his Oris Divers Titan Date will prove to be the perfect companion as he travels the world with ORF commentating on the great skiing events.”
