The Oris Jazz watch Lionel Hampton Limited Edition 1999.
Born in 1908, Lionel Hampton came from Kentucky, USA, and had the rhythm and blues in his blood. He was the king of the vibraphone: energetic, enthralling, and popular throughout the world. In the forties in Benny Goodman’s band Hamp introduced the vibraphone as a fully-fledged jazz instrument for the first time. Soon afterwards he founded his own ensemble, playing with greats such as Quincy Jones and Wes Montgomery. He died in 2002.
In 1999 Oris dedicated the Jazz watch Lionel Hampton to the 90 year old in a limited edition of 420 units.
