22.05.2006 - Oris becomes partner of Carlos Coste
The Swiss watch manufacturer Oris has sealed a three-year partnership contract with world-record diver Carlos Coste and is launching a special series of mechanical divers’ watches under his name.
That means the 30-year-old free-diver from Venezuela, who regularly breaks records for apnea free-diving without oxygen equipment, has become a champion of the Oris brand.
In 2003, Carlos Coste was the first person to reach the magic depth of -100 m in free-diving and was entered into the Guinness Book of World Records. In 2004 he dived up to -135 m in the discipline of variable weight and to –102 m in constant weight.
On 9 May 2006 the Venezuelan broke the world record in the variable weight class of free-diving again, reaching a depth of -140 m. Oris congratulates Coste on this remarkable achievement.
