Past meets present

04.09.2007 - Past meets present

To mark the 90th anniversary of the foundation of Royal Air Force "111 Squadron", Hurricane R4118 joined up with a Tornado at a recent air show.

The "111 Squadron" was equipped with Hurricanes from 1938 to 1941, and Peter Vacher’s legendary Hurricane flew with "111 Squadron" in 1941, after being shot down in the Battle of Britain. The Battle of Britain fighter, discovered and restored by Peter Vacher and supported by Oris watches, is taking part in a number of air shows this year.

Keeping time at the proceedings was the Oris Flight Timer R4118 Limited Edition, a mechanical rarity, like the plane that inspired it. With only 4118 units available, the timepiece has a vertical crown enabling the setting of a second time zone by turning the ring on the dial, an innovation borrowed from cockpit watches of old.
