17.06.2008 - Oris stirs up support for Wooden Spoon
Rugby is a very popular and well-supported sport in England, and the Oris UK team were delighted to attend the 51st annual Sunshine Sevens Rugby Tournament – in spite of the wet weather!
For the second year running our UK affiliate was one of the main sponsors of this year’s event, which featured 46 teams in total – all eager to get their hands on the prestigious Lady Astor of Hever trophy. And there was an Oris watch on offer for the best player of the tournament!
This year’s event raised money for the Wooden Spoon charity which supports disadvantaged children and young people in the UK and Ireland.
Sam Edgerley, at 17 one of the youngest players on the field, was named player of the tournament after an outstanding performance. He was presented with an Oris Divers Titan Chronograph at the end of the event.
Paul Thurlow, Sales Manager of Oris UK said: “The Sunshine Sevens is a fantastic event and we’re pleased and proud to support such a worthy cause. Sam played really well and we thought a diver’s watch would be an appropriate prize after so much rain!”
