28.10.2008 - Oris helps jazz legend celebrate in style!
Oris has had a long association with the world of jazz and was on hand in Moscow recently to help one of Russia’s most famous jazz musicians to celebrate two special landmarks in his life.
Anatoly Kroll, ‘Friend of Oris’ and icon of the Russian jazz scene, celebrated his 65th birthday and 50 years as a musician at a special concert in Moscow. Over 1000 music fans attended the celebrations at the famous Estrada Theatre.
Anatoly Kroll is a jazz pianist and conductor who started his career at the age of just 15. He has since gone on to lead several world renowned jazz orchestras including the famous MKS Big Band. He has also been involved with numerous films, composing the soundtracks to several popular movies. He is currently the leader of the orchestra of the Russian Music Academy.
To mark both his birthday and his long and illustrious career, Oris Russia presented Mr. Kroll with the Limited Edition watch dedicated to Dizzy Gillespie – one of his favourite jazz artists of all time. The presentation was made on stage at the event and the watch was worn by Mr. Kroll for the remainder of the concert.
Pavel Larin of Oris Russia said: “Anatoly Kroll is a legend in the world of jazz and we are thrilled to be able to call him a ‘Friend of Oris’. We feel that the Dizzy Gillespie watch was appropriate for this very special occasion. We are sure that it will be the perfect companion for him during his concerts in the future and wish him many happy returns.”
