Born on 9 March 1985 in Maracay, Venezuela, 26-year-old Pastor Maldonado’s career path has followed a traditional route by motorsport standards. By the age of seven, Pastor was racing karts in Venezuela’s junior championships and, by the time he’d reached the tender age of 15, had already secured eight titles, including Renault’s Winter Series. A move to Europe in 2003 ensued in order to contest the Italian Formula Renault Series. Three podiums placed him seventh overall at the end of his first season in Formula racing.
